The big moment is coming! It's only days before Shakira makes history on the project. Everybody in Rio, and the megashow, which happens next Saturday (02/05), in the sands of Copacabana, promises to move the Rio economy in R$ 776.2 million, if the public estimate of 2 million people. This is what the study by Prefeitura do Rio shows, through the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development and Riotur.
The figures are based on projections of public expenditure, whether it is from Rio or outside the city, including daily hotels (in the case of tourists), consumption in bars and restaurants and souvenir shopping.
Still according to the study, it is expected that 13.9% of the public is composed of national tourists (278 thousand), 1.6% by international tourists (32 thousand) and 84.6% by cariocas and residents of the Metropolitan Region (1.7 million). The revenue estimate is based on the so-called average ticket of consumption, i.e. how much a person is expected to spend daily in the city. The projection is that this expenditure reaches R $ 547.30 per day for Brazilian tourists (with a stay of three days), R $ 626.40 for foreigners (four days) and R $ 141.75 for the local public.
Rio before and after the project
Before the Everyone in Rio project. the month of may was a period in which, traditionally, the number of tourists is lower than in other times. The study shows that this reality has changed with the event. In 2023, the year before Madonna's show, the May 1 holiday received 252.7 thousand tourists. This number increased to 339.1 thousand in 2024 and to 481.4 thousand in 2025.
In addition, “Everybody in Rio” issues also generate spontaneous international promotion for the city. Shakira's show should strengthen Rio's image in the global market, as it did with Madonna in 2024, and Lady Gaga in 2025. For 2026, the expectation is that the international exposure reaches about 250 million dollars (approximately R$ 1.3 billion), considering the average exchange rate in the period.
