The 2025 Rio Marathon takes place this weekend, between June 19th and 22nd, taking advantage of Corpus Christi's holiday to turn the Wonderful City into a great open runway. Considered the largest street racing festival in Latin America, the event brings together thousands of athletes from Brazil and abroad in events that unite sport, tourism and celebration.

Created in 1979 by Eleonora Mendonça, a pioneer who also represented our country in the first women's Olympic marathon in 1984, Rio Marathon was the first of its kind in the country and has since grown in prestige and number of participants.

The event is known for its scenic and flat path, which runs through stunning landscapes such as the Aterro do Flamengo, the Pão de Açúcar, the Copacabana edge and the view of the Cristo Redentor. The contagious energy of the carioca public along the way is a separate attraction and helps transform the event into an unforgettable experience for amateur and professional athletes.

In addition to the traditional marathon (42 km), the program includes the half marathon (21 km), 10 km, 5 km races, the Family Run (6 km) and the 21k+42k Challenge, offering options for runners of all levels. At the end of the race, the party continues in the area of arrival, reinforcing the fame of the event as the “Rock in Rio” of the runners.

The Rio Marathon follows with open arms for athletes from all over the world, consolidating itself as one of the biggest meetings of sport and tourism in Brazil.
