Pre-Carnaval spreads the folia through different neighborhoods of Rio

On this pre-Carnaval Sunday the holiday took place in several regions of the city, with parades in São Conrado, Jardim Botânico, Barra da Tijuca and Laranjeiras, which reinforced the simultaneous presence of celebrations in neighborhoods of the South Zone and the Southwest Zone. In São Conrado, the Tin Block opened the morning with strong presence of the axé and its own compositions, while the Me Forget Block transformed the streets of the Jardim Botânico into a stage of affective memories and brought together a record battery. At Barra da Tijuca, the Barra Friends block paraded to the sound of the Beija-Flor Sovereign battery and gathered revelers and animated bathers with sambas-sand, marches and traditional carnaval hits.

This year, the group presented the plot “Band of Friends Embrace the Animals”, with a letter that defends respect for animals. “It is necessary to reflect, protect and abuse never”, says a piece of music. The theme has gained even more relevance in recent cases of great repercussion involving animal abuse, such as that of the dog Ear. During the parade, revelers raised a banner for justice for the episode, as well as signs with images of the animal.

In São Conrado, the Vira-Lata Block built its trajectory from the irreverent spirit and the appreciation of the diversity that marks the carioca folia. This Sunday, the parade on the shore of São Conrado excited the crowd with copyright songs such as “Vira Already Turned”, “Virar Your Head” and “Vara-Lata”, as well as classics of the axé of names like Eagle Wing, Chiclete with Banana, Banda Eva, Ivete Sangalo, Smell of Love, Timbalada, Saulo Fernandes, Olodum and Banda Mel.

In the South Zone, the Block Me Forget, in the Jardim Botânico, maintained the tradition of betting on nostalgia as the parade's guiding thread, with marchinhas, classic sambas and songs that marked different times. The audience sang together and revived stories linked to carnaval. This year, the group gathered more than 300 rhythmists from samba schools, other blocks and also exclusive musicians from the club, a mixture that, according to drums queen Karen, is part of the identity of Me Forgets. The children were also able to have fun at the Mini Sea Beings Block, in Laranjeiras, the children's block is inspired by the marine universe and led to the street aquatic characters, colorful costumes and songs adapted to the children's audience.
