National Museum celebrates 207 years with free programming this weekend

The National Museum/UFRJ celebrates its 207 years this Sunday and who wins the gift is the public. Located in Quinta da Boa Vista, the space will have a free schedule for all tastes.
The National Museum/UFRJ celebrates its 207 years this Sunday and who wins the gift is the public. Located in Quinta da Boa Vista, the space will have a free schedule for all tastes.
This year's edition, whose theme is "Science, Culture and Memory", will feature more than 50 interactive activities, including scientific workshops, exhibitions, educational games, cultural presentations and guided tours. Among the attractions, replicas of items of the collection, session of UniCirco Marcos Fleet, courtship of the Cordão da Tia Juca, and circle of the Samba da Volta.
The Scientific Tent will be another highlight of programming, with activities such as simulation of fossil excavations, mineral experiments, workshops on marine and terrestrial biodiversity, games on insects and dinosaurs, as well as educational actions on archaeology, taxidermy and restoration of the São Cristóvão Palace.
The event will also have a special edition of the Local Junta Fair, with about 40 producers selling the best of gastronomy.
