Meet the Royal Court of Carnaval 2025

The Grand Final of the election to the Royal Court of the Carnaval 2025, held on Friday night (22/11) at Cidade do Samba, made history by counting seven members in its formation, reflecting the growing diversity of samba. For the first time, the imperial family of folia will be composed of LGBTQIA+ representatives and a non-binary citizen, making the dispute even more inclusive and representative.

The night of celebration and dispute was attended by ten candidates for the rank of Queen, five finalists for King Momo, five for Muso, five for Musa and four for the post of Citizen No Binary. The elect for the Royal Court 2025 were: Thuane de Oliveira Rosário Werneck Maria Ribeiro (Queen - Vila Isabel), Rhuanda Monteiro Riso (1st Princess - Hose), Jessica Costa de Almeida (2nd Princess - Young Vasco Force); Kaio Mackenzie (King Momo - Hose), Luís Otávio Antonio dos Santos (Museum - Willow); Bianca de Oliveira Mourão Ermida (Musea - Kiss-Flor) and Lucas Antonio Valentine da Silva (Citizen No Binary - Hose).

The election was marked by the presence of the public, who actively participated through the popular jury on the G1 portal. The technical jury, composed of 20 samba professionals, culture and entertainment, was responsible for evaluating criteria such as sociability, sympathy, mastery of sambar art and, of course, the carnival spirit of the participants. The notes awarded by the jury were added to the extra points given by the public votes, which contributed up to three additional points to the most voted.

The award ranged from R$ 32.5 thousand to R$ 45,500, with the winners receiving recognition not only for their beauty and talent, but also for their engagement and charisma in the universe of the carnaval. The event was animated by pagoda groups New Pick and Safe Deny With choreography signed by Mayara Lima and Alex Coutinho.

The inclusion of LGBTQIA+ representatives and a Non-Binary Citizen in this year's Royal Court signals an important change in the traditional festival, which increasingly reflects the plurality of Brazilian society. The victory of the new members of the imperial family symbolizes not only the celebration of diversity in the carnaval, but also the strengthening of a more welcoming and representative environment for all audiences.
