The Prefeitura do Rio released, on Thursday (27/08), the operational scheme that will be adopted for the Rock in Rio 2026, in days 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 13 of September, in the City of Rock. The plan was presented at the Center for Operations and Resilience (COR-Rio), by the municipal agencies and departments involved.
The event takes place in seven days, two working days, two weekends and the Brazilian Independence holiday (7), in the Southwest of Rio. Because it is a large event, with a tourist impact and intense circulation, the Prefeitura do Rio, through the Riotur, set up a plan to guarantee the proper routine functioning of the city.
Special transit operation
The Rio de Janeiro Traffic Engineering Company (CET-Rio) will implement a special transit scheme. To enable the arrival and exit of the public to the event, the entire surroundings of the Olympic Park will be restricted circulation and with a parking ban on the days of the event. Only registered residents' vehicles, official vehicles and the BRT can access the blocked area.
The control of access to the blocked area for the festival will be through reading plates through the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) system and high visibility Totens for confirmation of the vehicle access status in real time.
The previously registered residents will receive “green light” for access. The other vehicles, without registration, will receive “red light” and will be directed out of the blocking area. This process speeds up the release of cars and improves fluidity, because only registered vehicles will have access to the region.
OCR and Totens System
In addition, traffic agents will act through video monitoring. The goal is to ensure mobility on access routes to Rock City and also curb possible irregularities within the blocked area, such as parking in a prohibited location, for example. The routes where the action will be developed will be duly signaled as determined by Resolution Contran 909/2022. In addition to the teams working in the region, traffic agents will be remotely monitoring, through the cameras, in real time, any traffic violations that are being committed.
In each day of the event, CET-Rio will have 210 professionals in traffic actions, between operators and support team; 20 operational vehicles and 40 motorcycles will be engaged in the work of maintaining traffic flow, curbing irregularities and guiding pedestrians and drivers. In addition, 39 mobile and fixed variable message panels will reinforce disclosure about the schedules of alternative road closures and routes.
CET-Rio technicians at the Center for Operations and Resilience (COR-Rio), will monitor the entire area of the event through the cameras so that, if necessary, semaphoric adjustments are made in order to maintain good traffic conditions.
For rapid clearance in case of accidents or vehicle breakdowns, 17 CET-Rio trailers will be positioned at strategic points of the main roads of the region.

Special operation of transport and mobility
The Municipal Transportation Department (SMTR) and MOBI-Rio prepare a special mobility operation to facilitate public displacement that goes to Rock in Rio 2026. Tickets are already for sale and cost R$ 29, with payment exclusively for Jaé app.
As the main axis of the operation prepared by the City Hall, the BRT will have three special services that will make direct and semi-direct links to Rock City, through the exclusive corridors of the system to ensure faster and more comfortable trips. The services will be operated with articulated buses.
SE 08 - T. Oceanic Garden x T. Olympic Center (direct) - travel time 30 minutes;
SE 09 - T. Dawn x Morro do Outeiro (direct) - travel time 18 minutes;

Jae will be the means of payment of the special service
Tickets for the special services of the Rock in Rio Express BRT can already be purchased by the Jaé app. The purchase is totally digital: the passenger selects the day of the festival where he wishes to use the service, pays R $ 29 per ticket and guarantees the trip to the chosen date.
To use the Rock in Rio Express BRT, you need to have the Jaé app and register on the platform. Tickets must be purchased with the balance of the Transport Account, which can be reloaded by Pix or credit card.
