Feira de São Cristóvão receives “Folia Fair” with free children programming this weekend

The traditional Feira de São Cristóvão, in the homonymous neighborhood of the North Zone of Rio, will be staged on Saturday and Sunday (14 and 15/02) of the “Feira Folia”, party of Carnaval aimed especially for children and families. The event will occupy the Plaza Catolé do Rocha with cultural and educational activities that reinforce the tradition of frevo and the carnival rhythms.

The program includes frevo and prop workshops, encouraging the creativity of the little ones, and a carnaval dance with musical attractions, including the performance of singer Flávia Baiao and march performances with musician Mango Barony.

In one of the highlights of the event, the children’s batteries of samba schools — such as Innocents of Caprichos, Dolphins of Rio, New Generation of Estácio and Estrellinhas of Youth — promise to encourage the public with their own rhythms and choreographies, strengthening the cultural formation of the new generations.

The entrance is free, with programming designed to ensure fun and safety for the whole family. The organizers highlight that Feira Folia intends to rescue the festive spirit of the traditional Carnaval, focusing on child participation and the bond with Brazilian popular music.
