Carnaval 2027 marks the beginning of the expansion of the Special Group and reconfiguration of the alloys

The Carnaval 2027 in Rio will experience many new developments starting next season. The first is that, after a meeting with the participation of the LIESA and the City Hall, it was defined that will start a progressive expansion in the number of schools in the Special Group. With the move, two Gold Series schools will rise each year instead of just one. The forecast is that by 2030, the Special Group gathers 15 members, with five presentations per night. Thus, for 2027, the number of participants remains in 12 schools.

Changes in other alloys

Changes in the structure of carnaval are not restricted to LIESA. The RJ League, responsible for the Gold Series, announced the presence of the Innocents of Belford Roxo and the United Jacarezinho in the 2027 programming at Marquis de Sapucaí. In addition, it was defined that Saint Clemente was invited and will join the Academics of Santa Cruz, champion of the Silver Series in 2026, in the presentations scheduled for February 6th and 7th, in the Passarela do Samba.

In Intendente Magalhães, the program of the Samba Popular Passarella will also have new participants. In the Silver Series, the Carnival Superliga announced the invitation to the Golden Rose, United of Cosmos and Boi of the Governor's Island, which join the Serene of Campo Grande and the Quintino Lion in the next parades. In the Bronze Series, besides Casa de Malandro and Hard is the Name, Academics of Madureira, Arame de Ricardo and Crowned of Jacarepaguá were invited to join the division.

Still according to the note released by the Superliga, all deliberations were conducted in full accordance with the guidelines of the Municipal Executive Power, reinforcing the commitment to the organization, institutional respect and strengthening of the carnaval.
