The Prefeitura do Rio presented, this Thursday, day 5, the Operational Plan for the Carnaval 2026. The expectation is that more than eight million people roam the city over the days of folia. Only in the Sambódromo of the Marquis de Sapucaí, are seven days of parades, involving the Gold Series, the Special Group and the Minor Schools.
Just like last year, the Special Group will feature three performance nights, gathering four schools a day, while the Gold Series will parade in two days. The Intendente Magalhães Road will receive six days of parades, distributed between the Silver and Bronze series, in addition to the Enredo Blocks and the Evaluation Groups.
The program also includes 60 Popular Balls spread across different regions of the city, the parades of the Blocks of Embalo and Enredo in Avenida Chile, as well as the traditional Ball and Original Folião Contest in Cinelandia.
Another highlight is the Terrareirão do Samba, in Plaza Eleven, which will receive more than 40 artists throughout the carnival period. The expectation is of a daily audience around 10,000 people. During the presentation of the plan, each municipal agency involved detailed its strategies for the performance in the parades of Sapucaí and Intendente Magalhães, including traffic operations, urban cleaning, security, health and public planning.
COR-Rio will have over 400 cameras, drones and advanced base in Sapucaí
The Center for Operations and Resilience of the Prefeitura do Rio (COR-Rio) has prepared a special scheme for the Carnaval 2026, with more than 500 operators, who will work in different shifts. For the parades at the Marquis de Sapucaí, more than 400 cameras will be used, in addition to drones and an advanced unit at the Passarela do Samba.
Through the equipment, COR-Rio teams will monitor, in real time, the displacements of the allegories of samba schools that will parade in the Sambódromo. The Special Group's associations will be monitored between the Cidade do Samba, the Gamboa, and the concentration on Avenida Presidente Vargas. The allegorical cars of the Golden Series schools will have accompanied the displacement from their barracks, in Caju, São Cristóvão and Santo Cristo. In both groups, camera coverage will be made throughout the Port Zone to the Sapucaí region.
The boarding and landing of the train stations, VLT and subway located in Central Brazil, Praça Eleven and Estácio will also be monitored to accompany the movement of the foliões. The devices will also be aimed at monitoring traffic interdictions, as well as deviations and alternative routes. In addition, three drones will be used exclusively in the perimeter of the Marquis da Sapucaí. The equipment will generate images to the COR-Rio and, in case of any emergency occurrence in the parades, the activation of operational teams occurs immediately. In addition, an advanced COR-Rio unit will be positioned at the entrance of the Sambódromo, with operators monitoring the accesses and actions of the organs in the region during parade days.
In the Carnaval of Intendente Magalhães, in the North Zone of the city, the monitoring will be performed with the help of 60 cameras installed in the perimeter, in the neighborhoods of Campinho, Oswaldo Cruz, Praça Seca, Madureira and Cascadura. A drone will also be used in parade days to increase operators' analysis capacity in the Situation Room.
During the days of parades, images of cameras and drones will be transmitted on the videowall in a special layout designed to facilitate the work of operators mobilized at the Operations Center. COR-Rio has over 5,500 own cameras positioned at different points in the city.
Tourists and cariocas should download the COR app. Rio to be connected with the main occurrences: traffic blocks, weather forecast and interdictions. The COR app is free of charge, is available for Android and iOS in virtual app stores, and has versions in Portuguese, Spanish, English, French and Chinese. It is worth remembering that the bans caused by the parades will also be made available in the Waze app, partner of COR-Rio, thus preventing the user from being detained in congestion caused by the parades.
Surveillance, technology and patrolling mark operation on the avenue
The special operation of the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (SEOP) and of the Municipal Guard of Rio (GM-Rio) for the parades of the Schools of Samba in the Sambódromo, in the Center of Rio, and for other points with parties such as the Intendente Road Magalhães and the Avenida República de Chile, will count on the employment of 950 agents per day parade. The operation will start on Thursday (12/02) with preventive actions of traffic monitoring and inspection and will extend until Saturday, day 21/02, when the Parade of the Champions happens. 60 vehicles will be used, in addition to eight trailers and one truck to support the staff.
SEOP and GM-Rio teams will work in the external and internal areas of the Sambódromo to promote urban planning and the safety of revelries, as well as provide assistance in emergency situations. Within the Sambódromo, the teams will work around the health centers that will be mounted on the site and also in the access to the stands. Teams from Ronda Maria da Penha (RMP) will also be present at strategic points of Sapucaí, acting in coercion to flagrant violence against women and emergency reception, in addition to the dissemination of the Specialized Care Network, in support of the Special Secretariat of Policies and Women's Promotion. The use of technology will be fundamental for the displacement of teams. Therefore, images of the Center for Operations and Resilience (COR-Rio) cameras and the use of drones will be essential to assist the agents of the Public Order.
In the external area, the focus of the action will be in support of road blocks and also the actions of the inspectors of the Subsecretaria de Operações and the Coordination of Urban Control (CCU) in the planning of the walking trade. There will be 81 road block points covered by GM-Rio. The municipal guards will still act in coercion to crimes, promoting preventive patrolling actions. The teams of the Special Coordination of Complementary Transportation (CETC) and Control Management of Parking and Trailers (GFER) will act in the surroundings to curb the pirate vans and irregular parking. GM-Rio will also monitor the area of maneuvering the allegorical cars that access Sapucaí during the parade, Frei Caneca Avenue and intersection streets.
The teams involved in the operation will be assisted by professionals who will be in seats in the COR-Rio Situation Room to provide more agility in meeting demands and situations that require intervention from GM-Rio and SEOP teams. There will also be the distribution of child identification bracelets by municipal guards during the desfile das Escolas de Samba.
Women's Secretariat reinforces protection in the Carnaval with integrated actions
Operation includes specialized services, information campaigns, partnership with Airbnb, prosecutors, transportation concessionaires and visual actions in public spaces of the city.
The Municipal Secretariat of Policies for Women and Care of Rio de Janeiro (SPM-Rio) prepared a broad operation for the Carnaval 2026, focusing on prevention and coping with violence against women on different fronts of the city. The actions bring specialized care in the main circuits of the party, educational campaigns in public spaces, institutional partnerships and communication strategies to increase access to information and the municipal protection network.
During the period of folia, SPM-Rio will be present at the main points of the Carnaval with technical teams trained to provide immediate reception, guidance and referral. Fixed service stations will be installed in Marquis de Sapucaí, Intendente Magalhães and Fan Fest do Carnaval, in Copacabana, with social workers, psychologists and lawyers.
In addition, teams of mobilizers will circulate through the street blocks and the Carnaval of the Parks, between 12 and 22 February, performing information actions, identification of risk situations and distribution of materials from the Carnaval + Insurance for Women campaign.
The campaign will also feature the adhesive of bathrooms of the cabins, with clear messages to combat violence and QR Codes that direct to the platform www.woman.rio. The initiative is carried out in partnership with the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), expanding the reach of information on orientation and complaint also in the private spaces of the party.
In partnership with Dream Factory, producer of the Carnaval of Rio, the Secretariat will take the campaign to street blocks, with the installation of informative posters in the bathrooms of these events. The collaboration also provides for a visual action of great impact on Copacabana, with the installation of a LED cube fixed on the corner of Princess Isabel Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, displaying informative messages along the Carnaval.
The reported content warns: “75% of women have been harassed. In Carnaval, this can't be normal. Carnaval is fun. Respect is safe living. Ask for help”, with direction to the site www.woman.rio And whatsapp from SPM-Rio.
Another important front of the operation is communication in public transport systems. In partnership with Rio Bus, RioTer and Bus Panel, the Secretariat will convey informative teasers in digital panels of strategic terminals of the city, such as the Terminal Paulo Portela, Terminal Alvorada (Barra da Tijuca, including BRT and urban buses) and Terminal Campo Grande. The audio-visual pieces, without audio, will reinforce messages to prevent violence and direct the www.woman.rio, reaching thousands of people in daily circulation throughout the city.
In addition, in partnership with the Municipal Department of Conservation, physical plates will be installed with the so-called “Peça Help”, which will also direct to the Secretariat’s website.
In the tourism field, SPM-Rio signed an unprecedented partnership with Airbnb to expand access to information among visitors. The platform will include, in its annual manual distributed to guests, an institutional content of the Secretariat with guidance on how to identify situations of violence, the main types of aggression — physical, psychological, moral, sexual, obstetric and patrimonial — and where to seek help in Rio de Janeiro.
The material presents the equipment of the municipal network, such as the Shelter Sigiloso, the Casas da Mulher Carioca, the Salas da Mulher Cidadã, the Specialized Centers for Women's Care (NEAM), the Specialized Centers for Psychological Care (NEAP) and the Specialized Centers for Women's Care (CEAM), in addition to the activation of the 190 in situations of immediate risk.
More than 2,500 tons removed from Sambódromo networks and channels
The Rio-Águas Foundation provides flood prevention services in the Sambódromo region. The work began in December and is in the process of completion. More than 2500 tons of waste have already been removed from the canals of the Central region of Rio and from the drainage networks of the Sambódromo and the surroundings. The Canal do Mangue received cleaning on the stretch of Avenida Presidente Vargas, as well as the Rio Papa-Couve, which runs under Rua Marquês de Sapucaí. Teams still operate in the clearing of rain galleries of streets around the Passarela do Samba, with the help of a vaball truck. The work will be completed next week.
Comlurb strengthens cleaning and installs containers at leaf spots
Comlurb has scheduled a special cleaning megaoperation for the parades at the Sambódromo, Intendente Magalhães, and Avenida Chile - Bira Presidente, in addition to popular dances in the neighborhoods and in Cinelandia. The Company will act with 1,943 garis daily, at all points of folia. The Company is providing 240-litre containers and high capacity containers in all places with public concentration, to facilitate waste disposal by foliões.
The great show of samba schools, at the Sambódromo, will feature 873 garis in each of the seven days of parades (three of the Special Group, Two of the Gold Series, one of the Mirins Schools and the Champions Parade), which will work with support of 14 compactor trucks, six dump trucks, 20 blowers, 12 mini sweepers, two blasters, and a water pipe to wash the runway of parades with reuse water. 1,000 containers of 240 liters and two compactors of 15 m3 will be installed inside the Passarela do Samba so that the Sambistas and the public can properly dispose of their waste.
All around the Passarela do Samba will also receive differentiated cleaning. The night operation will feature 364 Garis and 35 urban cleaning agents. In the daytime operation will be 141 Garis and 22 urban cleaning agents. Between vehicles and equipment, they will be used daily, throughout the outside of the Sambódromo, including the access routes: four compactor trucks, two mini dump trucks (satellites), and four water pipes and two motorcycle pumps for hydraulic cleaning with reuse water. After each day of parades, a large sweeper will support the final cleaning. 70 high-capacity containers and 50 of 240 litres will be made available for the correct disposal of waste.
For the parades of samba schools of the Silver and Bronze Series, on the stage set up on the Intendente Magalhães Road in Campinho, Comlurb will highlight 123 garis and 33 urban cleaning agents in the night operation, and 42 garis and six urban cleaning agents in the daytime operation, daily. Five compactor trucks will be used, two mini sweepers, a large sweeper at the end of each day of parades, an electric cart and two mini dumpers (satellites). The street wash will be done with four water kites and two motorcycle vans, which use reuse water. 428 high-capacity containers and 100 containers of 240 litres will be made available for the correct disposal of waste.
At all leaf sites Comlurb will clean before, during and after the events, with mechanized scanning and removal and collection of the generated waste. The Company will be with cleaning staff at all popular dances in Cineland during the four official days of carnaval. The daily staff is 40 garis, which will perform the services with the support of a compactor truck for removal and collection of waste, a large sweeper at the end of each ball day and a water pipe for hydraulic cleaning with reuse water and soap. Already on Avenida Chile - Bira President, during the parades of the plot blocks, the Company will have 80 garis a day, which will carry out the work with a compactor truck and a water kite. 100 high-capacity containers will be distributed throughout the vicinity of the avenue of parades and accesses.
For the cleaning of the popular dances that will be held in several neighborhoods of the North Zone, during the four days of carnaval, Comlurb highlighted 280 garis per day, divided into all dances. Each point will have a compactor truck to remove the waste, a large sweeper at the end of each day of parades, and a water pipe for hydraulic cleaning with reuse water. Containers of 240 liters and high capacity will be installed at all dances.
Conservation Secretariat renews the asphalt of Sapucaí and reinforces preventive actions
For the implementation of the new sound system of Passarela do Samba, the Department of Conservation carried out the installation of ten cross ducts throughout the entire extension of Sapucaí. The structures house the sonorization cables, as well as electrical conductors and scenic lighting, eliminating the presence of exposed wires on the track.
After completing this stage, the entire avenue received new asphalt, ensuring better conditions for technical trials and parades of the Carnaval 2026. The investment of the Department of Conservation in the services was 927 thousand reais.
To prevent flooding during the parades in case of rain, teams from Operation Abra Ralo, together with the Special Operations Coordination of the Department of Conservation, will be on duty in Sapucaí. The actions include cleaning, drain and drain clearance and crack leveling, ensuring proper water flow and the continuity of the party.
After the success of the initiative last year, the Department of Conservation again applied aromatizing essences in the manholes of Sapucaí since the first parade. The applications will be made after the passage of each school, providing more comfort to the Sambists and the public. This year, the essences will have new aromas. In 2025, 138 applications were made in the 46 drains of the Sambódromo.
Special transport operation for samba school parades
The Prefeitura do Rio, through the Municipal Department of Transport (SMTR), prepared a special operation for the public transport system during the parades of the Carnaval 2026. The orientation is that the population plan their journeys in advance, due to the interdictions foreseen around the Sambódromo, the Center, and the Magalhães Intensive Road, in the North Zone.
During the parade days, there will be reinforcement in the operation of night bus services that serve the region of the Sambódromo, with lines integrated to the Terminal Gentleza, expanding the options of displacement to the public. The lines SN104 (Terminal Gentleza x São Conrado), SN474 (Meier x Copacabana), SN209 (Caju x Candelaria), SN298 (Acari x Castelo), SN624 (Mariópolis x Praça da República) and SN312 (Penha x Candelaria) are provided.
On the days of the Special Series parades, on 15, 16 and 17 February, the 60 and 80 BRT services, which already operate 24 hours, will have fleet reinforcement from the Gentleza Terminal, while the other services with uninterrupted operation will continue to function normally throughout the city. For the parades at Estrada Intendente Magalhães, the recommendation is that the public use the stations Campinho or Pinto Teles, which will have special operating hours. The return after the parades should be made by Terminal Paulo da Portela, from 4 am, or by station Madureira–Manaceia, open 24 hours.
The taxi service will also have a specific scheme around the parades. The Par Sector will be destined to the point of the accredited taxis of the Taxi.Rio, located on Rua Afonso Cavalcanti, corner with Rua Carmo Neto. Between 13 and 17 February, in addition to the 21st, taxi access to the blocked areas will follow the following rules: the beginning of the blockade will be at 19h; until 20h, all taxis with passengers will be able to access for landing; from 8h until the end of the blockade, only taxi vehicles. River accredited with QR Code will have permission; and special taxis for disabled people will be able to access the blocking area without restrictions.
Social assistance identifies children with bracelets and offers living space to children of walkers
The Municipal Department of Social Assistance (SMAS) of Rio will intensify the protection actions for children and adolescents during the Carnaval 2026. This year's campaign has its motto “Proteger is our plot” and brings together living space for children of street vendors, identification with bracelets and prevention actions in the Sambódromo and elsewhere in the city.
During the parades of the Gold Series (13 and 14 February), the Special Group (15, 16 and 17) and the Saturday of the Champions (21), children and adolescents will be identified with bracelets containing the name and phone of parents or guardians. The measure contributes to the rapid reunion and ensures more security and tranquility for families.
SMAS teams will act on itinerant and fixed points. In the Sambódromo, there will be social assistance tents in access to sectors 1 and 2 (Bendito Hipólito Street), dispersion (Frey Caneca Street) and access to sectors 8 and 9.
The initiative will also be held in the parades of Intendente Magalhães, which will receive the Federation of Blocks (Group 1) on the 14th, the Silver Series on the 15th and 16, the Evaluation Group on the 17th and the Bronze Series on the 20th and 21th.
Living Space - Between the 14th and 17th and the 21st, children of street vendors who work at the Sambódromo or in the surroundings can be cared for in a living space for children from 4 to 12 years old. The service will run from 6:00 to 6:00, at EDI Rachel de Queiroz, at Avenida Presidente Vargas, near Sambódromo, with 50 vacancies per night. The site will have food, recreational activities and rest area. SMAS professionals will actively search around the Samba Passarella, and walkers will also be able to spontaneously search for teams identified with vests.
Prevention of dispersion - SMAS will also carry out the campaign “Dispersion is not a place for fun”, aimed at preventing accidents in Praça da Apoteose, during the parades of the Gold Series, the Special Group and the Saturday of the Champions.
Educators and social workers will guide parents and guardians about the risks of the permanence of children in the dispersion area, where there is circulation of allegorical cars and cranes. Children cannot remain on site after presentations.
In addition to these initiatives, SMAS will act in the social approach of people in situations of vulnerability, in the active search for lost children and adolescents, in the temporary institutional reception, when necessary, and in the promotion of campaigns to eradicate child labor and to combat sexual violence.
RiverLight has prepared a special lighting and monitoring operation
In the Samba Passarella, 570 reflectors (510 facing the runway), towers with moving lights and reflectors RGBW, as well as 24 km of fiber optics, 14 cameras integrated into the control room, four TVs with real-time images and a 3D projection system were installed.
Around the Sambódromo, reinforcement includes 232 reflectors and 100 cameras between Avenida Francisco Bicalho and Central Brazil. Operation Wirebusters has been active all the way from Cidade do Samba to Sapucaí. During the parades, 128 collaborators will be on duty, as well as three basket-air trucks.
The performance extends to other poles: in Intendente Magalhães, there was complete maintenance, reinforcement with 104 projectors and operation Wirebuster, with 36 professionals on duty. In Terrareirão do Samba, RioLuz guarantees lighting, stage energy and staff of 15 employees. The company also supports about 300 events in the city with power keys and lighting points.
Folia Verde reinforces sustainability and environmental compensation actions at the party
Initiative of the Department of Environment and Climate (SMAC), the Folia Verde campaign reaffirms the commitment to turn the country's largest popular party into a sustainability model, with the strengthening of the Plant+Rio program for the Carnaval 2026. About 450 professionals are mobilized this year, among waste pickers and members of the Guardians das Matas program, which brings together female community leaders.
The aim is to promote good environmental practices in the street blocks of the city and also in the parades of Marquis de Sapucaí and Estrada Intendente Magalhães, in the North Zone; thus reducing the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG).
With the articulation of Planta+Rio environmental compensation actions will be promoted associated with the largest popular festival in the country, including planting seedlings of native species of the Atlantic Forest, recovery of green areas and public spaces and awareness actions on the importance of urban afforestation and solutions based on nature.
Other professionals from the Folia Verde campaign also interact with revelers in environmental education actions with educational 'quiz' and gift distribution. This year, the initiative involves at least 25 blocks, including megablocks, which receive the Green Folia Seal.
CET-Rio mounts special traffic operation for parades and blocks
The Traffic Engineering Company of Rio de Janeiro (CET-Rio) set up special traffic schemes to ensure road safety in the Carnaval of Rio 2026 for the parades of samba schools in the Sambódromo and the Intendente Magalhães, and the blocks in the Circuit Avenida Chile Bira Presidente.
The operations aim to reduce the impacts on city mobility and promote traffic flow in the Center and North Zone regions. On average, 310 traffic operators will be engaged in roadblocks and driving guidance, as well as municipal guards and traffic controllers, with the support of 30 cars, 45 motorcycles and 24 trailers.
For road signs and guidance to drivers, CET-Rio provides for the use of 2,500 cones and pumps in traffic blocks, as well as 900 ballasts and lanes with guidance on the transit scheme. In total, 36 variable message panels will be used to inform drivers about the interdictions and guide about deviations and alternative routes.
Traffic conditions will be monitored by technicians at the Centre for Operations and Resilience (COR) for possible impacts and, if necessary, the semi-aphoric times will be adjusted to improve fluidity in alternative routes and in the main traffic corridors of the region.
Recommendations - CET-Rio guides the population to plan their displacements in advance, prioritizing the use of public transport, such as train, VLT, barges and subway due to the large number of road interdictions and due to the constant movement of floats. There will be no parking dedicated to the events, so it is important that all drivers respect the prohibitions, as well as the other signs installed in the region and follow the guidelines of the traffic agents and supporters. All pedestrians must make the crossing in the sights, such as pedestrian tracks, always observing the guidelines of traffic agents.
SAMBÓDROMO - Gold Series School Parades (13 and 14/02) and Special Group (15, 16 and 17/02) - Traffic interventions will start in the early hours of Thursday (12/02) for Friday (13/02), with the displacements of the allegorical cars of the associations located in various neighborhoods, such as Caju, São Cristóvão, Santo Cristo, Centro e Estacio. At this time the central runway of Avenida Presidente Vargas will also be released, towards Praça da Bandeira.
At 5 p.m., access to Avenida Presidente Vargas will be prohibited from Avenida Francisco Bicalho and Praça da Bandeira, as well as the lateral runway towards Candelaria, to Praça da República. At this time, the other routes around the Sambódromo will also be closed, including the rest of Rua Afonso Cavalcanti and Rua de Santana.
The traffic towards Centro will be diverted to Avenida Paulo de Frontin and later to Rua Itapiru (vehicles coming from Avenida Francisco Bicalho) or Rua Haddock Lobo (for vehicles coming from Praça da Bandeira). The access to Avenida Paulo de Frontin will also be closed, in the direction Central, of the flow from the Tunnel Rebouças, with the transit diverted to Rua Santa Alexandrina.
The returns on Avenida Paulo de Frontin, height of the New City, will also be closed. The flow of vehicles from Avenida Paulo de Frontin to Rua Aristides Lobo will also be diverted, as well as extending the area of interdiction around with the restriction of traffic by Avenida Salvador de Sá, Rua Hélio Beltrão, Rua de Santana, Rua Marquês de Pombal, among other routes of the New City. At 19h there will be the last stage of interdictions, with the restriction of the flow of vehicles in Rua Frei Caneca, Viaduct Thirty-one March, direction Laranjeiras, Catumbi roads and roads near the Plaza da República. The estimate is that all blocks will be maintained until 8h Sunday (22/02), when the main routes will be released.
Parking ban - To preserve the circulation of the exit of the allegorical and pedestrian cars, in addition to the places where there is already prohibition regulation, the parking around the Sambódromo will be prohibited from 6h of Friday (13/02) until 10h of Wednesday (18/02), and in the parade of the champions, from 6h of Saturday (21/03) until 12h of Sunday (22/02), on the internal roads to the blockades and on the main streets and avenues of the region.

Sambódromo will have six medical posts for the parades
The Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) will have a special emergency medical assistance scheme during the parades of samba schools in the sambódromo, between the 13th and 17th February, on Friday, the 20th, when they will parade the children schools, and on the Saturday of the champions (21). Six medical stations will be distributed along Marquês de Sapucaí Avenue, at strategic points, to meet anyone who needs it. In addition, professionals from the Institute of Health Surveillance of the municipality (IVISA-Rio) will take actions to monitor compliance with health standards.
Medical stations will be located in sectors 1 (concentration), 2, 7, 10 (Salvador Street of Sá), 11 and Apoteose (dispersion) and will operate from 19h until 4h of the following day for the parades of the Gold Series, Special Group and Saturday of the champions. The care structure will have a total of 33 beds, seven of which are advanced support, and 11 hydration armchairs, distributed among the stations. There will be 140 professionals involved in the operation. On the day of the presentation of the children's schools (20), the six posts will operate from 5 p.m. until the end of the presentations.
For patients with more severe conditions, there will be ambulances with advanced support (mobile UTI) to make transfers, coordinated by the Municipal Regulatory Center, to hospitals or UPAs of the network. There will be 16 ambulances with their own teams (doctor, nurse, driver) standing on each parade day of the Gold Series and Special Group schools and on Saturday of the champions. For the children's parade, there will be 10 cars available.
The Municipal Health Department has the expertise of years operating medical posts in events with high concentration of public, such as carnaval and réveillon. SMS medical stations have also worked during the technical trials of samba schools on the weekends before the parades, and are supporting the street carnaval, in the main blocks circuits. In 2025, the structure of the SMS made almost 4 thousand visits, considering the three fronts of action: street block care, technical trials and parades of samba schools.
For health promotion and prevention of sexually transmitted infections, dispensers will be fixed in the bathrooms of the sambódromo for the availability of male and female condoms.
Health surveillance before, during and after the carnaval - ́The Superintendence of Health Surveillance will act before, during and after the carnaval in Sapucaí, with actions to monitor, detect, investigate, prevent and control possible public health events that may occur, aiming to protect the health of people who are on site, as well as the entire population of Rio. In the preparation for the parades, the sambódromo and surrounding activities of environmental surveillance and vector control of the site were carried out, with the application of ultra-low volume insecticide (fumacê), site survey and elimination of potential breeding sites of disease-transmitter mosquitoes.
The Health Surveillance Strategic Information Center (CIEVS-Rio) team has monitored the epidemiological scenario at local, national and international levels to monitor possible changes in the patterns of occurrence of diseases and/or outbreaks. The CIEVS will also act during and after the event, monitoring the care at the medical stations in order to detect diseases and diseases of notification, as well as outbreaks and other events of relevance to public health, with actions of rapid response and prevention and control, in addition to monitoring the epidemiological scenario of the city after the carnaval.

VLT Carioca will have special operation and changes in the journey during parades in Praça Tiradentes
The VLT Carioca will carry out a special operation between Sunday (15/02) and Tuesday of Carnaval (17/02), due to the schedule of parades of blocks in Praça Tiradentes. Traditionally, events in the region cause great concentration of foliões and occupation of the track, which prevents the circulation of trains. The aim of the amendments is to ensure the safety of passengers and the general public.
During this period, for safety reasons, trains on lines 2 and 4 will not circulate through the Rio Center. To ensure customer service, the route of Line 3, which links Santos Dumont Airport to Central Brazil, will be extended to Terminal Gentileza. The average interval between trips will be 20 minutes.
Operation on 13 (Friday) and 14 (Saturday) - On 13 and 14 February, when the parades of the samba schools of the Gold Series (Access Group) take place at Marquis de Sapucaí, the VLT Carioca will function normally. Lines 1 (Terminal Gentleness x Santos Dumont), 3 (Central x Santos Dumont) and 4 (Terminal Gentleness x Square XV) will circulate with intervals between 12 and 20 minutes. On line 2 (Praia Formosa x Square XV) the intervals will be up to 60 minutes.
