The Marquis de Sapucaí is already dated to begin to enter the rhythm of the Greatest Show on Earth. The events are free and anticipate the atmosphere of official parades, turning the Samba Passarella into one of the main meeting points of the Rio summer.
This year's programming comes with news. The parades of part of the samba children schools officially integrate the technical trials and will always be held at the opening of each day of activities. The initiative broadens the presence of new generations of samba in the Sapucaí programming and allows the public to closely monitor the work carried out by communities since the formation of children and young people who participate in the associations.
Another change occurs in the closure of the programming. The traditional Sapucaí Wash, which usually takes place on Saturday before the Carnaval, will be held on Sunday, January 31, from 17h. Following, the Avenue receives the trials of Viradouro, Grande Rio and Mangueira, from 19h.
Sound and light tests during Technical Tests
In addition to the preparation of the Aggregations, technical tests are also important for the Sambódromo structure tests. Light and sound systems are evaluated during the activities, preparing the Marquis de Sapucaí to receive the Official parades, scheduled for the days 07, 08 and 9 February.
The anticipation of the calendar also allows cariocas and visitors to organize the summer schedule in advance. In 2026, the technical trials gained space as official holiday schedules and attracted about 360 thousand people to the Avenue, consolidating the period as an opportunity to experience the Carnaval before the official holiday days.
