Bira Circuit President transforms Chile Avenue into Carnaval street center in Rio

The street Carnaval of Rio will gain even more strength this year in the city center with the Circuit Bira Presidente, which will be held on Avenida Chile, between Saturday (14) and Tuesday (17) February. Named after one of the great symbols of samba and popular culture in Rio, the circuit celebrates the tradition of blocks and the democratic occupation of the public space, bringing together different cultural expressions throughout four days of celebration.

With continuous programming, the Circuito Bira Presidente highlights the diversity of the street Carnaval, bringing together traditional blocks, cultural collectives, Afro-Brazilian demonstrations and groups that represent different territories of the city. Avenida Chile becomes a great corridor of the folia, connecting history, memory, music and celebration in the heart of Rio.

The parades of Avenida Chile reaffirm the role of the blocks as pillars of the Rio de Janeiro Carnaval and strengthen the cultural identity of the most popular party in the country. The circuit was named after Bira President, legendary Sambist founder of the Chief of Ramos, died in June 2025. The tribute was made official by a decree of the City Hall, chosen for being the path traditionally carried out by the block Cacique de Ramos.

Throughout the four days of parades, the circuit brings together some of the most traditional and representative blocks of the Carnaval street of Rio de Janeiro. Among the highlights is the Miner Youth, From China, Pagodão Beco de Pilares, Pagodão de Madureira, Bohemians of Iraq, in addition to the aforementioned Cacique de Ramos, one of the largest institutions in the history of Carnaval and Brazilian popular music.

When occupying Avenida Chile with an intense and diverse schedule, the initiative reinforces the vitality of carnival culture and highlights the role of the city as one of the main centers of popular parties in the world, where tradition and innovation walk side by side.
