The Carioca Walk app has just won 2nd place in the CityTechs category of Ranking 100 Open Startups 2025, one of Latin America's most relevant innovation awards. The ceremony took place at the Hotel Copacabana Palace, bringing together leaders, companies and startups that are transforming the city through innovation.
Organized by the 100 Open Startups platform, the ranking highlights annually the most relevant solutions for the corporate market, considering contracts and open innovation partnerships established with large companies.
In the CityTechs category, the focus is on initiatives that develop technologies aimed at urban challenges, such as mobility, waste management, sanitation, data and public services, segments that represent some of the largest volumes of business in innovation within the ecosystem.
What is the Carioca Walk?
The Carioca Walk is an application that combines geolocation, historical curatorship and gamification to encourage cariocas and visitors to rediscover the Rio on foot. The platform offers an interactive map that brings together more than 2,000 cataloged points and thematic scripts, among literary, architectural, black memory, religious, gastronomic circuits, among others.
Through the app, you can explore churches, monuments, statues, mansions, historic buildings, bars and restaurants, as well as several other points of interest throughout the city.
At each stop, the user has access to interpretive texts, photos of the time, curiosities, transforming the walk into a real experience of discovery and appreciation of the Rio cultural heritage.
