Foundation root with Alceu Valença in Funding Progress

The Funding Progresso, at Lapa, will be the stage of one of Rio's most awaited June parties. On June 7, the traditional Root of the Foundry promises to turn the house into a true northeastern camp, with the right to flags, typical food stalls and games that refer to authentic country parties.

The great attraction of the night is Alceu Valença, who presents the show My Dear Saint John, gathering classics from forró, shote and baião, as well as copyrighted songs that marked his career. The repertoire includes hits like Silly Heart, Tropican, Lunar Taxi and Hair on the Pente, always present at the June parties throughout the country. The show also brings news, such as the single “Pagode Russo” – classic by Luiz Gonzaga recreated by Alceu – and the track “My Dear Saint John”, theme of the film The Moon of Time, directed by the artist himself.

Keeping alive the tradition of St. John in the Northeast, the singer still pays homage to masters such as Luiz Gonzaga and Jackson do Pandeiro, playing songs such as “Baião”, “Shoot of Girls”, “Look at Heaven” and “Sala de Reboco”.

The evening also includes the participation of DJ Xeleléu, who runs the track, and the Forró do Kiko group, responsible for closing the event with an animated dance full of improvisations. Known for its original and psychedelic sound, the group brings to the stage a repertoire that walks by names such as Dominguinhos, Sivuca, Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil and also copyright compositions, always with arrangements signed by musical director Kiko Horta.
