Damn the TotalEnergies Theater

The musical comedy “Damn you!” returns to Rio on October 1, 2 and 3, with sessions at 8:00 p.m. at TotalEnergies Theatre in Gloria. Created by artists from Baixada Fluminense, the montage bets on the slave humor and references of the drag and pop culture to revisit classic tragedies of Greek dramaturgy, such as “Edipus Rei” and “Antigona”.

With more than 3,500 viewers since its first season, held in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, in the beginning of 2025, the show combines parodys, lipsyncs, music and comical situations to build an irreverent reading of known stories of the theater. The proposal also incorporates elements of the LGBTQIAPN+ culture, in an assembly mostly starring artists of this community.

“Maldita” is a realization of the Cultural Institute Cerne, of São João de Meriti, through the Popular School of Theatre of Baixada, and was born from workshops of Teatral Assembly and Art Direction. The dramaturgy and direction are signed by Rohan Baruck, who conducts a cast formed by artists from the theatrical scene of Baixada Fluminense.

The trajectory of the montage includes recognitions in different awards of the theater. In 2026, “Maldita” won the 20th APTR Award in the category Direction and was also nominated in the categories Dramaturgia, Direction of Movement and Music. The assembly also received nominations for the Humor Award, by Fábio Porchat, in the categories Direction and Special Award for the cast.

The art direction brings together scenery, costumes and vision created by a team of artists, with coordination of Higor Nery and Leandro Fabolla. The production also had the collaboration of drag queen Organzza, who made available pieces of his personal collection, and the Atelier Sodom, responsible for costumes of artists from the Rio drag scene.
