On 2 and 3 April, the Symphony Petrobras Orchestra will play live the soundtrack of the classic Central do Brasil (1998) in sync with the film on screen. Under the rule of Alexey Kurkdjian Ogalla, the show, which will take place at the Riachuelo Rio Theatre, will feature the composers of the original music, Antonio Pinto (piano) and Jaques Morelenbaum (violo).
Directed by Anselmo Mancini, the Cine Concerto Central do Brasil seeks to intensify the excitement of Walter Salles' long film, which designed actress Fernanda Montenegro to the Oscar. More than two decades later, the work continues to reverberate in the public and gains new prominence with the release of Still Here (2024), film directed by Salles and starring Fernanda Torres.
The presentation is part of the commemorative programming of the 50th anniversary of the Symphony Petrobras Orchestra, one of the main symphonic sets of the country. Founded by Maestro Armando Prazeres, the orchestra is recognized for its versatility and appreciation of Brazilian music. His artistic director and titular conductor, Isaac Karabtchevsky, is one of the most respected conductors of the international scene.
