National Balé of China in the City of Arts

The City of the Arts, in Barra da Tijuca, receives between 9 and 12 October the National Balé of China, one of the most prestigious dance companies in the world. The group brings to Rio de Janeiro the production of GuoNian, a show that celebrates the Chinese New Year in a fusion of tradition, traditional music and visual requinte.

With choreography and direction of Zhao Ming, the assembly brings together 60 stage dancers, lush Higurines and a scenario full of cultural references, including the twelve Chinese zodiac animals, red lanterns and folklore figures. The soundtrack is based on the emblematic music composed by Tchaikovsky for the choreographer Marius Petipa, in 1892, evoking the great and sensitive atmosphere of the traditional spa.
